Professional experience

Catalin Dima has accumulated a significant experience both in the legal field and in management in his career spanning over 20 years, started ever since he was a student. This way, Catalin Dima has performed a rich activity, with high complexity level, in positions as:
-attorney practicing business law;
-manager of legal activity;
-executive director in a multinational group in the telecommunications field, leader on the Romanian market;
-manager in the field of governmental relations;
-manager in the field of communications and public relations.

During his activity, Catalin Dima has successfully coordinated teams of Romanian and foreign attorneys in projects having a major impact over the clients’ business. Also, he has ensured, in various complex projects, the coordination of both the work in the legal field and in other fields of activity in close connection, such as communication and liaison with various public institutions and mass-media.

Catalin Dima holds a solid practice in the field of Electronic Communications Law, Commercial and Companies Law, Labor Law and Competitions Law.

Relevant projects

Among the largest projects in which the legal activity has been successfully coordinated by Catalin Dima, the following may be counted:

1. The transaction between Romtelecom and Cosmote Greece from 2005 that facilitated the re-launch of the operator Cosmorom (currently Cosmote Romania), which required the coordination of:
-the negotiation of the transaction’s documents, with a value of Euro 120 million;
-the international arbitration in Paris with an equipment supplier for the claimed amount of over Euro 150 million and its finalization  through a settlement;
-the negotiations with the relevant authorities for the new license of Cosmote Romania.

2. The restructuring (cancellation and renegotiation) of commercial agreements with various suppliers in amount of over Euro 600 million.

3. The restructuring of employment relations (both individual and collective, with unions) and the reduction of Romtelecom’s personnel from over 40,000 to approximately 8,500 employees.

4. The dispute with the Competition Council regarding a sanction in initial amount of approximately Euro 22 million, at first reduced by half by the Competition Council and then fully cancelled by the court of law.

5. Major disputes in the field of telecommunications for spectrum resources, licenses and interconnection tariffs between the main operations on this market.

Education and professional qualification

Catalin Dima has graduated the Bucharest University Law Faculty in 1999.

Catalin Dima has participated during time to numerous courses, conferences, seminars, trainings in various fields such as telecommunications, commercial law, competition law, mergers and acquisitions, taxes, management, human resources, leadership.

Catalin Dima is a member of the Bucharest Bar since February 2000.
